All our organically grown fruits are certified as organic, but also have a Global Gap certificate and often a social certification like SMETA;, GRASP or FAIRTRADE. We regularly carry out appropriate controls to ensure compliance with all the requirements for organic cultivation.
Our organic Hayward kiwis grow under the same climatic conditions as their conventional counterparts. We obtain the fruit over 12 months of the year mainly from Italy, Greece, New Zealand and Chile.
Upon harvest, freshly harvested Kiwis are then stored at 0 to 2 degrees celcius with optimium storage conditions. In order to 'wake them up' from the 'hibernation stage' and bring them to a state ready for consumption, we supply heat and ethylene gas in our ripening chambers. After only a few days they are ready to eat. To find out whether the Kiwi Green is ripe, lightly press the fruit with your fingers. If it lightly yields, it is perfect for eating.
Kiwis are rich in vitamin C. The flesh is juicy, soft and green. The black seeds can be eaten as well. Kiwis can easily be kept in the fridge for some time. Please note: it is best not to store them next to other fruits.
