On the outside, our Kiwi Gold catches the eye with its velvety soft skin - it is smooth, hairless and can even be eaten. The golden yellow flesh tastes tropically sweet with a hint of mangoes, melons, citrus fruits and a little honey - even the skin is a gourmet delight. The golden kiwi is also an important supplier of vitamin C. A single fruit covers more than the daily requirement of an adult.
The golden variety is cultivated in the same countries and regions of origin as its green sister. It requires a warm climate with at least 240 frost-free days. There are 2-3 different varieties on the European market, all of which we have access to.
To find out whether the Kiwi Gold is ripe, press lightly with your fingers on the fruit. If it yields a little, it is perfect for eating.
Kiwis can easily be kept in the refrigerator for some time. Please note: it is best not to store them next to other fruits.
TIP: The milder Kiwi Gold is more compatible with milk!
Because the kiwi yellow contains very little of the protein-splitting enzyme "Actinidine", it can be easily processed with dairy products without causing a bitter taste like its green sister. The much milder taste in comparison is also due to the low acidity of the golden kiwi.
